In Paraguay, the use of facial recognition technologies in football stadiums is already a reality, raising critical questions such as: Who manages our biometric data? For what purposes? And what happens if the technology fails? At TEDIC, we launched #ConMiCaraNo, a project created with and for football fans, aimed at informing and raising awareness about the risks of this technology in sports. In a country where there is no personal data protection law, demanding transparency and respect for our privacy is more important than ever.
To address this, we developed accessible and practical resources, including a fanzine with key information, themed masks for fans, informational flyers, and a dedicated website (conmicarano.tedic.org) with tools to defend our rights. We draw inspiration from the experiences of football fans in other countries to show that together, we can drive change. The stadium is ours, and so is our data.
