We at TEDIC are part of the Global Coalition for Technology Justice, a rapidly growing global movement to ensure that big tech plays its part in protecting elections and people’s rights and freedoms around the world, especially in the global majority, where companies – Meta (Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, Threads), Google (YouTube), X (formerly Twitter), TikTok and others – have been negligent in addressing the impacts of their social media and messaging products.
In 2024, more than 65 elections will be held in some of the world’s largest democracies, including the United States, the European Union, India, Mexico and Indonesia, as well as in countries in active democratic decline and conflict, such as Tunisia, Ethiopia and Egypt. The Global Coalition for Technological Justice enables global coordination, knowledge sharing and collective action against the threats posed by insecure social media platforms.
