The Global Encryption Coalition (GEC) is an organization that promotes and defends encryption in major countries and in multilateral forums where it is under threat. Its mission is to protect encryption, which safeguards the personal security of billions of people and the national security of countries around the world. TEDIC has been part of this coalition since 2024.

The GEC was founded in 2020 by the Center for Democracy & Technology, Global Partners Digital and the Internet Society. Among its objectives are:

  • Warn technology experts about threats to encryption.
  • Create mechanisms to generate expert analysis to neutralize threats
  • Supporting companies’ efforts to offer encrypted services to their users
