The Ibero-American Network for Data Protection (RIPD), arises as a result of the agreement reached at the Ibero-American Meeting on Data Protection (EIPD) held in La Antigua, Guatemala, from June 1 to 6, 2003, with the assistance of representatives of 14 Ibero-American countries.
From the outset, this initiative had political support reflected in the Final Declaration of the XIII Summit of Heads of State and Government of Ibero-American countries held in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, on November 14 and 15, 2003, aware of the nature of personal data protection as a Fundamental Right, as well as the importance of Ibero-American regulatory initiatives to protect the privacy of citizens.
